This Privacy Policy explains how Bhasa: English Hindi Translator ("Bhasa", "we", "our", or "the App") handles information when you use our Android application.
We respect your privacy and aim to collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the App's features.
1. Information We Process
Bhasa provides translation and related language tools. Depending on the features you use, the App may process:
- Text you type, paste, or submit for translation
- English, Hindi, and Hinglish translation requests
- Voice input when you use speech-to-text
- Text used with the text-to-speech feature
- Images you choose or capture for text extraction/OCR
- Translation history and saved/favourite translations
- Basic technical information required for app functionality, analytics, advertising, or crash reporting, where applicable
We do not require you to provide personal information simply to use basic translation features unless a particular feature clearly requires it.
2. Translation Data
When you enter text for translation, the text may be sent securely to a third-party translation or AI service to generate the requested translation.
This processing is necessary to provide features such as:
- English to Hindi translation
- Hindi to English translation
- English to Hinglish translation
- Hinglish to English/Hindi translation
- Natural language translation
Please avoid entering passwords, banking details, government identification numbers, or other highly sensitive personal information into the translation box.
3. Microphone Permission
Bhasa may request access to your device's microphone when you use voice input or speech recognition.
Microphone access is used only to provide features that require audio input. The App does not intentionally record or listen to your conversations in the background.
You can deny or revoke microphone permission through your device settings.
4. Camera and Photos
If Bhasa includes camera translation or image-to-text functionality, the App may request access to your camera or selected photos.
These permissions are used to:
- Capture an image for text recognition
- Select an image containing text
- Extract text from an image
- Translate the extracted text
The App does not access your photos or camera without your action and the permissions provided by your device.
5. Text-to-Speech
Bhasa may use Android's text-to-speech functionality or another speech service to read original or translated text aloud.
Text may be processed by the text-to-speech service installed or configured on your device. The privacy practices of an external speech provider are governed by that provider's own privacy policy.
6. Translation History
The App may save your recent translations, favourites, or preferences locally on your device to make the App more convenient to use.
Where history is stored locally, deleting the App or clearing its app data may permanently remove this information.
You may also be provided with an option to delete your translation history from within the App.
7. Clipboard
If you choose to paste text from your clipboard, Bhasa processes the text you explicitly provide for translation or other requested functionality.
We do not intentionally monitor your clipboard continuously in the background.
8. Third-Party Services
Bhasa may use trusted third-party services for functions such as:
- Translation or AI processing
- Speech recognition
- Text-to-speech
- Optical character recognition (OCR)
- App analytics
- Crash reporting
- Advertising, if advertisements are included in the App
These third parties may process certain information according to their own privacy policies.
9. Advertising
Bhasa may display advertisements.
If third-party advertising services such as Google AdMob are used, they may collect or process information such as device identifiers, advertising identifiers, IP address, general device information, ad interactions, and other data necessary to provide, measure, prevent fraud, or personalize advertising where permitted.
Users may be given consent or privacy choices where required by applicable laws and platform policies.
10. Analytics and Crash Information
We may use analytics and crash-reporting services to understand how the App performs and to identify technical problems.
Such services may process information including:
- Device type
- Operating system version
- App version
- App interactions
- Performance information
- Crash logs
- Diagnostic information
We use this information to maintain and improve the App.
11. Data Security
We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect information processed through Bhasa.
However, no method of electronic transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
12. Children's Privacy
Bhasa is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children in violation of applicable privacy laws.
If we learn that personal information from a child has been collected improperly, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
13. Data Retention and Deletion
Locally stored translation history and preferences can generally be removed by clearing the relevant data within the App, clearing the App's storage, or uninstalling the App.
Information processed by third-party services may be retained according to the respective provider's policies and legal requirements.
14. Your Choices
Depending on your device and the features you use, you can:
- Grant or deny microphone permission
- Grant or deny camera access
- Control access to photos and media
- Delete translation history
- Clear locally stored app data
- Manage advertising and privacy settings through your device
- Uninstall the App at any time
Some features may not work if the permissions required for those features are disabled.
15. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our services, or legal requirements change.
Any updates will be posted on this page with a revised effective date. We encourage users to review this Privacy Policy periodically.
